Welcome and thank you for joining Long Live Linguistics on our first post! Our mission and message consists of goals we want to accomplish, and we wanted to share it with you as an introduction to our blog! We would also like to add that this is our new website and our old one can be found on WordPress.
Our first goal is to promote writing- writing from the heart and not the computer. So many people in classrooms, offices and homes rely on AI to write anything and everything. From recipes, to emails, to essays, people use it to generate words that do not hold any sentimental value, unlike a hand written card on your birthday that would. Writing has also become an activity to dread, instead of being an activity to inspire. We want to show that writing should not be treated as a chore, but instead a cherished art. Every week, we will share writing tips, prompts, and inspirations that will truly showcase the intellectuality of writing that will make you want to pick up a pencil!
Our second goal is to promote reading. As so many people forget the artistry and imagination that reading books can sprout in your mind, they also forget how to pick up a book. They say they do not read due to the lack of time, but they use that time instead to scroll on their phone- and even we are guilty of this. But the key to reading a good book is to find the right type of books to read. One person may think romance books are the most interesting books out there, and another person may think that they are frivolous. And if that person picks up a romance book, they are going to deem that all books are boring. So our goal this summer is to help you discover a genre of books to hook you on to reading. Every week, we will share recommendations, choices, and activities that will help you find the book of your choice.
We want to make this summer a summer of discovering yourself by finding the style of your writing, and of learning about others when you empathize with the main character of your soon to be favorite book.
